Kazuo Yashiro

Kazuo Yashiro is a name used by the late Japanese voice actor and actor Shun Yashiro, who was born Motohiro Suzuki on February 19, 1933, in Tsuyama, Okayama, Japan, and passed away on June 25, 2003. He was active in the entertainment industry from 1960 until his death and was affiliated with the theater company Theater Echo at the time of his passing. Throughout his career, he also performed under the names Tetsuya Yashiro and Shun Yashiro. He was a graduate of Meiji University's School of Political Science and Economics.

The role of a SpeedStars Member in the 2005 live-action film adaptation of Initial D is one of the on-screen acting credits attributed to the name Kazuo Yashiro. In the context of voice acting, his most significant role was as Suneo Honekawa in the first 1973 anime series of Doraemon, making him the original voice actor for that character. His other notable anime television roles included Nishihajime in Inakappe Taishō, Kawazoe in Star of the Giants, Ryō Inugami in Dokaben, Bem in the second Kaibutsu-kun series, Kyaru in Demetan Croaker, The Boy Frog, and Golem in Vicky the Viking.

Beyond original anime productions, Yashiro had an extensive career in dubbing foreign media into Japanese. He was known for providing the Japanese voice for Winnie-the-Pooh in various Disney productions, including The Tigger Movie, and for voicing Lenny the binoculars in Toy Story. His other dubbing work included Morocco Mole in Secret Squirrel, Tom in a TBS broadcast version of Tom and Jerry, Kaa in The Jungle Book, and the Huntsman in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Due to his versatile voice and long career, he also played numerous monster characters in the Kamen Rider franchise during the 1970s and early 1980s, including roles in the original Kamen Rider, Kamen Rider V3, and Kamen Rider Super-1.
