Javier Merchante

Description
Javier Merchante is a Spanish voice actor known for his extensive work in the anime dubbing industry, particularly within the Dragon Ball franchise. His career in dubbing began around 1991, establishing him as a seasoned professional with a long trajectory in the field.

Merchante is most widely recognized for his contributions to the Dragon Ball series, where he has voiced several distinct characters across different productions. He is known for playing the antagonistic角色 Bojack in the film Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound. He also voices the character Doctor Brief, the father of Bulma, in several series and films, including Dragon Ball Super and the special editions of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F. His other roles in the franchise include Dr. Myuu in Dragon Ball GT and Gowasu in Dragon Ball Super.

In reflecting on his early experiences with the series, Merchante has shared that his first impression of Dragon Ball was that it seemed "horrible" and completely outside his established frame of reference. He noted that this reaction was due to the show's stark contrast with the slice-of-life anime that had previously been popular in Spain, such as Heidi and Marco, and he also commented on the vocal strain required for the series' many battle cries.
