Franziska Lather is a German actress, voice actress, and singer. She works as a freelance performer in Frankfurt am Main and is represented by the ZAV Köln Film & Fernsehen agency.

Lather was born on May 30, 1987, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She received her acting training at the Hamburger Schauspiel-Studio Frese from 2012 to 2015, achieving stage maturity. She also completed a four-week camera acting workshop at the New York Film Academy in 2011 and further training at the iSFF in Berlin in 2019. Her vocal range is soprano.

Lather's most prominent anime voice role is Rei Ayanami in the German dubbed version of the classic series Neon Genesis Evangelion. She performed this role for the Netflix synchronization of the series, which took place in 2019 at postperfect Berlin. While previous German voice actresses for Rei Ayanami included Marie Bierstedt and Samia Little Elk, Lather was cast as the character for the Netflix release. Beyond the series, she also voiced the character in the film Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion, where she additionally performed the role of Yui Ikari.

Beyond her work in anime, Franziska Lather has an extensive background in theater and on-screen acting. Her theater credits include performances at the Junges Theater Göttingen, where she appeared in productions such as Nathan der Weise as Sittah, Hamlet as Queen Gertrude, and Der kleine Prinz in multiple roles. She has also performed at the Kammerspiele Wiesbaden, the Festspiele Heppenheim, and Kampnagel in Hamburg. Her film and television work includes roles in the RTL series Nachtschwestern and various short films. In 2016, the short film Polaroid, in which she appeared, won first place at the 23rd Gütersloh Short Film Festival for Best Film.
