Paulo Cavalcante is a Brazilian actor and voice actor known for a prolific career in animation and dubbing. He was born Paulo Cavalcante Egídio de Jordão Camargo on October 16, 1959, in São Paulo, Brazil. Cavalcante is a bacharel in Theater from the Escola de Comunicação e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo (USP).
Cavalcante's career in voice acting began in the early 1980s. His most iconic and enduring role is providing the voice of Cascão, the famously hygiene-averse character from the beloved Brazilian comic series Turma da Mônica (Monica's Gang). He first voiced the character in the 1983 film A Princesa e o Robô and has continued in the role for decades across numerous films, specials, and series.
In the field of anime, Cavalcante has contributed to several notable series. He is known for the role of Max, the friend of the protagonist, in the long-running Japanese anime series Shin chan (Crayon Shin-Chan). His other significant anime roles include voicing characters in major franchises such as Ranma 1/2, where he provided additional voices, and InuYasha, where he voiced Gon and Hakkaku. He also lent his voice to Skyler in Pokémon and Odion Ishtar in the first voice cast for Yu-Gi-Oh!.
