Renato Cecchetto was an Italian actor and voice actor known for his extensive work in dubbing animated films and television series for the Italian-speaking audience. Born on October 28, 1951, he trained at the Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico in Rome before beginning a career that spanned over four decades across theater, cinema, and voice-over work.

As a voice actor, Cecchetto became particularly recognized for his contributions to the Italian dubbing of animated content, including several notable roles in anime and anime-related productions. One such role was Mr. Kingery in the Italian dub of the 2009 live-action film Dragonball: Evolution, a movie adaptation of the popular Dragon Ball manga and anime series. His voice work in anime also included the character Suppaman in the Italian dub of the Dr. Slump series.

Beyond these specific anime credits, Cecchetto’s dubbing career was marked by a long and celebrated association with animated franchises. He was the official Italian voice of Shrek in the DreamWorks Animation film series. Additionally, he became known as the Italian counterpart to actor John Ratzenberger, providing the voice for nearly every Pixar character originally performed by Ratzenberger, including Hamm in the Toy Story films, Mack in the Cars films, and the Abominable Snowman in Monsters, Inc.. His other prominent dubbing roles included Cleveland Brown on Family Guy, Meow Meow Fuzzyface on BoJack Horseman, and Glossaryck on Star vs. the Forces of Evil.

In addition to voice acting, Cecchetto worked as a dubbing director and dialogue adapter. He also maintained a prolific on-screen career, appearing in over eighty Italian films, including comedies such as Amici miei - Atto II, Fracchia la belva umana, and Fantozzi alla riscossa. Renato Cecchetto passed away in Rome on January 23, 2022, at the age of seventy.
