Ceyli Delgadillo
Description
Ceyli Delgadillo is a former American voice actress known for her work with the FUNimation Entertainment company during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Based in Arlington, Texas, she was active in the anime dubbing industry from approximately 1997 to 2001. Her career is primarily defined by her contributions to the English dub of the Dragon Ball franchise during its early localization in North America.
Delgadillo is best recognized for providing the voice of the young protagonist Son Goku in two Dragon Ball films. She voiced the character in the FUNimation dubs of Dragon Ball Movie 2: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle, released in 1999, and Dragon Ball Movie 3: Mystical Adventure, released in 2000. In addition to her work on the films, she played the role of the young Namekian Dende in the original FUNimation dub of the Dragon Ball Z television series. Her portrayal of Dende occurred during seasons three and four, which correspond to episodes covering the Frieza and Garlic Jr. sagas. She also performed minor voice roles for the series, including additional characters such as a Namekian child and a character named Tommy. Beyond Dragon Ball, her anime voice work includes a small role as a little boy named Masaru in the first episode of Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files and as a Saiyan lady in the television special Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku.
Her tenure at FUNimation concluded in 2001 when she left Texas to relocate to Los Angeles. Following her departure, her roles were assumed by other voice actors. Stephanie Nadolny replaced her as the voice of young Goku, while Laura Bailey took over the role of young Dende. In subsequent remastered releases of Dragon Ball Z, Delgadillo's original voice work as Dende was entirely redubbed by Laura Bailey for consistency. However, her performances as young Goku in the two Dragon Ball films have been retained in all subsequent releases and remain part of the official English dub catalog.
