James Fields
Description
James Fields, also known as James T. Fields, is an American voice actor known for his work on English dubs of anime, particularly in series produced at Funimation. Hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Fields has also worked as an author and a drama teacher outside of his voice acting career.
Fields is perhaps best recognized for his multiple roles across the Dragon Ball franchise. In the feature film Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug, he performed as both the cowardly henchman Gyoshu and the raspy, vicious fighter Kakuja within the same production. His extensive work in the Dragon Ball universe includes voicing Korinto and an old tournament monk in the original Dragon Ball series, a bank robber and a homeroom teacher in Dragon Ball Z, and a tan-skinned doctor in Dragon Ball GT. He also portrayed Jimmy Firecracker, the reporter during the Cell Games, in the Dragon Ball Z television series.
Beyond Dragon Ball, Fields contributed to several other notable anime series. In Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files, he voiced the character Dr. Ichigaki, along with Onji and Yoda. His roles in the detective series Case Closed include Bonzai Tenei, a doctor, and a swim coach for various episodes. He also appeared as a commander in the science fiction series Blue Gender. Fields expanded his work into video games, providing voices for titles such as Dr. Ichigaki in Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament, the Hercule Announcer in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, and the play-by-play announcer in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
