Namiru Matsumoto

Description
Namiru Matsumoto is a Japanese manga artist recognized as the creator of the romantic comedy series My Girlfriend is Shobitch. Matsumoto both wrote and illustrated the manga, which became the creator's most widely known work after receiving an anime television adaptation.

Matsumoto's career as a professional manga creator began to gain recognition around 2013. In that year, Matsumoto submitted a work titled This Is For You! to the 22nd round of a manga audition, where it received an Excellence Runner-up Award. The judging panel praised the work for its depiction of children's changing moods and its compositional strength.

Following this early recognition, Matsumoto published a one-shot manga titled Ganbatta Kimi e in January 2014, which translates to To Hardworking You. This romance-themed one-shot was serialized in Comic Zenon.

Matsumoto's major breakthrough came with the serialization of My Girlfriend is Shobitch, known in Japanese as Boku no Kanojo ga Majime Sugiru Shojo Bitch na Ken. The manga began serialization online in July 2015 on the Niconico Seiga website and was also published on Comic Walker and Comic Newtype. The series was published in print by Kadokawa Shoten and ran for a total of eight volumes, concluding in September 2019. An anime television series adaptation produced by studios Diomedéa and Studio Blanc aired from October to December 2017. Matsumoto contributed original art and a new manga to the limited edition Blu-ray release of the anime.

After the conclusion of My Girlfriend is Shobitch, Matsumoto created another manga series titled Kuchi ni Dashitemo Yoroshii desu ka?, which began publication in April 2021 and ran until February 2023. This series was published in Comic Meteor and completed with two volumes.

The National Diet Library of Japan formally recognizes Matsumoto Namiru as a manga artist in its authority records.
