Jukei Fujioka

Jukei Fujioka was a Japanese actor and voice actor born on November 19, 1933, in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. He began his acting career with the Haiyuza Theatre Company and made his film debut in 1961. Fujioka was active in the entertainment industry from 1955 until his death on July 23, 1991, at the age of 57.
While Fujioka had an extensive career appearing in numerous live-action films and television dramas, he is particularly renowned for his voice work in anime. His most iconic voice role is Danpei Tange in the classic boxing series Tomorrow's Joe, known in Japan as Ashita no Joe. He first voiced the character of Danpei Tange in the original Ashita no Joe television anime, which ran for 126 episodes starting in 1970. He reprised this role for the 1980 theatrical film Ashita no Joe and again for the television series Ashita no Joe 2, which began airing in 1980, as well as for the 1981 compilation film Ashita no Joe 2. His portrayal of the passionate and down-on-his-luck boxing coach Danpei is widely celebrated and remains his most famous anime performance.
Beyond his voice work in Tomorrow's Joe, Fujioka was also known for his role as Detective Daisaku Tani in the live-action detective drama Seibu Keisatsu, a part that earned him significant recognition. He was a prolific actor who often played villainous or tough-guy roles in film and television. His other notable film appearances include Massacre Gun (1967), The Militarists (1970), Yakuza Graveyard (1976), Doberman Cop (1977), and Fire Festival (1985).
