Matt Hoverman is an American voice actor, playwright, and screenwriter born on May 12, 1968. He is a classically trained actor who studied playwriting at Brown University and acting at the University of California, San Diego. Based in New York City and later Los Angeles, his career spans stage performances at prestigious venues such as Yale Repertory Theatre and La Jolla Playhouse, as well as voice work for numerous animated series.

As an anime voice actor, Hoverman is perhaps best known for voicing Captain Harlock in the series Harlock Saga. He also provided the voice for Dark Oak, the primary antagonist of the Metarex saga, in the English dub of Sonic X, as well as the character Lucas in the same series. His other notable voice roles in anime and animated franchises include Bishop in an unspecified title, Wapol in One Piece, and Jakob in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds. He also voiced Corey Demario in Pokémon Chronicles and contributed additional voices to series such as Dinosaur King. Beyond these credits, Hoverman performed voice work for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Chaotic, and Winx Club. His role as the Giggling Goblin on the Disney Junior series Sofia First represents his work in western animation as well.

In addition to his voice acting, Hoverman has achieved significant recognition as a writer for animated television. He won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program in 2014 and a Humanitas Prize for Childrens Animation in 2015 for his work on the long-running PBS series Arthur. He has also written for programs including Curious George, Sofia first, Goldie and Bear, and Fancy Nancy. His theater work includes the FringeNYC Award for Outstanding Playwriting for the musical In Transit and a Drama Desk Award nomination for Best New Musical as co-book writer of The Audience. Hoverman is also a respected educator and solo show coach who has helped create over two hundred solo performances.
