Kazumi Amemiya

Kazumi Amemiya is a retired Japanese voice actress born March 14, 1964 in Tokyo, Japan. She was active in the anime industry from the early 1980s until her retirement in 2004, and was professionally affiliated with the talent agencies Aoni Production and Aksent. Amemiya performed under two related names: her real name Kazumi Amemiya (written as 雨宮一美) and the stage name Kazumi Amemiya (written as 雨宮かずみ), both pronounced the same way.
Amemiya is best known for her role as Doris Wave in the 1984 Sunrise anime television series Giant Gorg, directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. The series follows a young boy named Yuu Tagami and his companions, including Doris, as they encounter a giant robot named Gorg on the mysterious New Austral Island. She voiced Doris Wave across all twenty-six episodes of the series, which aired from April to September 1984.
Beyond Giant Gorg, Amemiya built a career primarily in anime from the 1980s. One of her earliest major roles was Mei Ling Ho in the 1981 series Ginga Senpuu Braiger, part of the J9 Series produced by Toei Animation. She continued in that mecha franchise, voicing Fang Fang Li in the 1982 sequel Ginga Reppuu Baxingar. For the 1985 adaptation of Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro, she played the character Wakasugi-sensei. She also contributed to the popular long-running series Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken), voicing Saki in episodes twelve through twenty-one, and appeared as Sayuri in the 1984 series Wingman. In the comedy anime Highschool! Kimen-gumi, she voiced Mari Oda. Amemiya also took on miscellaneous voice roles in Sōya Monogatari and Ginga Shuppuu Sasuraiger, the final entry in the J9 Series. Outside of television anime, she performed in the Japanese language dub of the film Prelude to a Kiss and had a role in the 2000 video game Sunrise Eiyuutan R, reprising the character Doris Wave. She also worked in radio as an assistant on Muta Teizou no Zeikin Soudan. Her career concluded in the mid-2000s, and she has been retired since 2004.
