Dany Laurent

Description
Dany Laurent is a French voice actress who has worked extensively in anime dubbing, as well as in theater and live action series. Her career in dubbing began through an introduction by actor Philippe Mareuil, which led her to work with the Brousselle brothers and Michel Eloy on dubbing platforms.

Laurent started her acting training at the age of sixteen in a theater company in Belfort, where she performed classical works by playwrights such as Shakespeare, Molière, Anouilh, and Calderon. This theatrical foundation informed her later work in voice acting.

In anime, she is known for the role of Mère, also known as Mamine, in the magical girl series Majokko Megu-chan, which is titled Meg in some French releases. She also voiced the character of Théo's mother in the series Touch, where she performed only in the first few episodes. Her other anime and Japanese series dubbing credits include playing a mother in Gozura, Mag the robot in Flashman, Araigne in Giraya Ninja, Shizue (the mother of Mayumi) in Jiban, Anna in Spielvan, a worker's wife in Mermaid's Scar, and Lui in episodes forty one and forty three of Les Supers Nanas. She also voiced Wendolene in the French adaptation of Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave.

Beyond anime, Laurent is recognized in the French dubbing community for providing the French voice of Kitty Forman in the long running sitcom That 70s Show and its sequel series That 90s Show. She has also dubbed Debra Jo Rupp in other roles, noting a natural creative affinity with the actress. Her other dubbing credits include Lois Morgan in Ellen, Mrs. Baskin in Big, Loreen Horvath in Girls, and Janet in Sale Môme.

In addition to voice acting and theater, Dany Laurent is also an author. She has written plays including Macolette, Comme en 14!, Avis de tempête, and Les vacances de Josepha. The play Comme en 14! was a significant success, receiving three Molière Awards in 2004 from five nominations. She has also written childrens books such as Le blaireau à lunettes and Rainette et Rossignol, as well as the novel La pension published by Margoni Editions in 2022.
