Jason Isaacs

Description
A classically trained English actor with a career spanning film, television, and theater since the 1980s, Jason Isaacs has built a significant body of work as a voice actor in animation and video games. He is perhaps most widely known for his live-action role as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series, but his deep, authoritative voice has also made him a sought-after talent for genre animation.

His career as a voice actor includes early work in anime dubbing. One of his first major voice roles was providing the English voice for Rajendra in the 1994 OVA adaptation of The Heroic Legend of Arslan. He later became a familiar presence in Western animated series and films. He voiced the cunning Admiral Zhao, a secondary antagonist in the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The series creators were inspired by Isaacs's performance in the film The Patriot when conceptualizing the character, and they successfully cast him to bring a dignified yet pragmatic menace to the role. He later reprised this character in the sequel series, The Legend of Korra.

His other prominent roles include the Grand Inquisitor, a formidable villain in the series Star Wars Rebels. In the Netflix animated series Castlevania, he voiced the role of the Judge, the leader of the town of Lindenfeld in season three, who initially appears as a strict but fair authority figure. Isaacs also contributed to the Castlevania video game franchise, voicing the character of Satan in the Lords of Shadow games.

Isaacs has a notable history of voicing characters in the DC animated universe. His roles include Sinestro in Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Ra's al Ghul in Batman: Under the Red Hood, Lex Luthor in Justice League: Gods and Monsters, and an alternate version of Superman in Superman: Red Son. He has also appeared in animated family films, such as voicing the spy jet Siddeley in Pixar's Cars 2, Dracula in Monster Family, and the villain Dick Dastardly in Scoob!. His extensive voice work demonstrates a recurring collaboration with studios producing action-oriented and fantasy animation, particularly in franchises like Star Wars, DC, and Castlevania.

Throughout his career, Isaacs has received several accolades and nominations for his acting. For his voice work, he has been nominated for Behind the Voice Actor Awards for his performance as the Grand Inquisitor in Star Wars Rebels. His broader acting career includes nominations for a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Satellite Award, among others.
