Luna Haruna

Description
Luna Haruna, born in Tokyo in 1991, is a Japanese singer, fashion model, and voice actress who began her career in entertainment after discovering a passion for anime and music at a young age. She first gained public attention by winning the Tokyo regional preliminary of the Animax Anison Grand Prix and making her pre-major debut with the song Binetsu no Tsuki through the anime song magazine Lis-Ani!. Her major-label debut came in May 2012 with the single Sora wa takaku Kaze wa utau, which was produced by Yuki Kajiura and used as the second ending theme for the anime Fate/Zero. The single achieved the number nine position on the Oricon single chart. Her second single, Overfly, was used as the ending theme for the Sword Art Online (ALO arc) and became a significant hit, reaching number three on the daily chart and number seven on the weekly Oricon chart.

While Luna Haruna is primarily known as an anime singer, she expanded her career into voice acting in 2017. She made her debut as a voice actress playing the role of Rito Suda in the anime series Urahara. Urahara is an original anime set in Tokyo's Harajuku district, where three high school girls work at a shop called Park and must protect their town from alien creatures called Scoopers who steal Earth's culture. Her character, Rito Suda, is one of the three main protagonists who enjoys street fashion and expresses her emotions through drawing pictures on the walls of the town. The role drew upon her previous experience as a model for the fashion magazine KERA, as the series is heavily influenced by Harajuku fashion culture.

Preparing for her voice acting debut required Luna Haruna to take lessons in dubbing and learning how to match her voice to the animated video, an experience she found both exciting and overwhelming. She noted a key difference between singing and voice acting is that voice actors record together in the same booth, whereas she was accustomed to singing alone in a recording booth. Her nervousness about her first role sometimes came through in Rito's voice, particularly in the first episode, but she viewed this as a learning experience. After the anime broadcast, she would search for her name online to see how audiences received her performance, wanting both criticism to improve and positive feedback to build her confidence.

Following her debut, Luna Haruna expressed interest in continuing voice acting work and specifically mentioned wanting to try roles as dark young boy characters, noting that her natural voice is somewhat deep. Beyond Urahara, she has also appeared in the live-action film Aru Zombie Shoujo no Sainan (2013), playing the key role of Alma V. Her musical career remained active alongside her voice acting, with many of her songs being featured in the anime series for which she performed, including singing the ending theme KIRAMEKI Lifeline for Urahara itself.

Throughout her career, Luna Haruna has performed theme songs for numerous popular anime series including Sword Art Online, Fate/Zero, Monogatari, Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend, High School Fleet, and Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs. She has made international convention appearances in countries including the United States, Spain, Singapore, Chile, Germany, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. While she continues to be primarily recognized as an anime singer, her voice acting debut in Urahara represents a significant expansion of her artistic range within the anime industry.
