Shōta Chōnan

Shōta Chōnan is a Japanese former voice actor and actor from Yamagata Prefecture, born on February 12. He was affiliated with the talent agency Ken Production. His career in the voice acting industry began after he graduated from the voice actor training school School Duo as a member of its 12th graduating class, officially joining Ken Production in April 2012. His debut role was as a background character, Audience G, in the 2011 television anime series The Idolm@ster.

Chōnan is best known for his work in the long-running sports anime Haikyu!!, to which he contributed multiple character voices across several seasons and films. He first voiced the character Shōhei Fukunaga in the series in 2014. Over the years, he also took on the roles of Eikichi Chigaya and Isumi Sakishima in various Haikyu!! installments, including the Land VS. Air OVA and the To The Top television series. His involvement with the franchise continued up to the 2024 feature film, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle.

Beyond Haikyu!!, his career was primarily composed of supporting and guest roles in numerous popular anime series. His television credits include minor characters in productions such as The Unlimited Hyobu Kyosuke, Attack on Titan, Free!, Magical Warfare, Your Lie in April, Joker Game, and Concrete Revolutio. He also contributed to the 2017 film BLAME!.

In the field of video games, Chōnan provided voices for several titles. Notably, he was the original voice of the character Luke in the popular mobile game Dream Kingdom and the Sleeping 100 Princes. He also voiced characters in Fallout 4, Band Yarouze!, and World Flipper. His work extended to drama CDs and foreign language dubbing for films and television dramas.

Chōnan retired from the voice acting industry on April 22, 2021. Following his retirement, his role as Luke in Dream Kingdom and the Sleeping 100 Princes was taken over by voice actor Shōhei Komatsu.
