Tony Sampson

Description
Tony Sampson is a former Canadian voice and television actor known for his extensive work in anime dubbing during the late 1990s and 2000s. Born on July 26, 1977, in Surrey, British Columbia, Sampson began his acting career at a young age, with early live-action work including the role of Flash in the Canadian fantasy drama The Odyssey from 1992 to 1994.

As a voice actor, Sampson collaborated frequently with the Vancouver-based studios Ocean Productions and Voicebox Productions, which were responsible for dubbing numerous anime series for North American audiences. Among his most recognized anime roles are Tori Avalon in Cardcaptors, the English adaptation of Cardcaptor Sakura, where he voiced the character Tori Avalon, known in the original Japanese version as Touya Kinomoto. He also voiced Dex Ogreon, also known as Dex Oyama, in the series MegaMan NT Warrior and its sequel MegaMan NT Warrior Axess. Another notable performance is his role as Tony in the animated film Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle.

Sampson's broader voice acting filmography includes a variety of other prominent roles. He performed as Miguel Aiman and a recap narrator in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and provided voices for series such as Ranma ½, Inuyasha, Dragon Ball Z in its Ocean dub, Hikaru no Go, Infinite Ryvius, Elemental Gelade, and Transformers: Armada. Beyond anime, he is widely remembered for his work in western animation, most notably as the voice of Eddy on the long-running Cartoon Network series Ed, Edd n Eddy, as well as the role of Berzerker in X-Men: Evolution.

Sampson retired from acting in 2009. Following his departure from voice work, he moved to Fort McMurray and began a career in the oil sands industry. In subsequent interviews, he stated that his decision to leave acting was influenced by a dispute with a production company after he requested a salary increase. Since 2013, he has also worked as a musician, releasing songs on digital platforms.
