Tomoya Kawai is a Japanese voice actor born on October 4 in Tokyo, Japan. He began his professional career in 1997 after completing training at the Katsuta Voice Actor Academy and the Eizo Techno Academia. Over the course of his career, he has been affiliated with several agencies, including Kyuu Production and Production A-Gumi, and later Bell Production.

Kawai has built a career defined by versatility, often taking on supporting roles, comic characters, and villains across a wide range of anime series. His extensive television anime credits include appearances in major long-running series such as Detective Conan, where he has played characters including a staff member,刑警十川,伊良部刑警, and菅本佳晴. He has also voiced roles in Inuyasha as竹村, in Death Note as a搜查官, and in the 2011 adaptation of Hunter x Hunter as multiple characters including马士他 and a裁判. Additional notable TV anime credits include Cyborg 009: The Cyborg Soldier, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, Angel Heart, Keroro Gunso, and The Idolmaster XENOGLOSSIA. In the film series Broken Blade, he is known for providing the voice of Logen G. Garf Ensance. His work in animated films extends to Inuyasha: The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass, Blue Gender: The Warrior, Appleseed, and Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love.
