Nathan Parsons began his career as a child actor performing voice-over work dubbing Japanese anime series into English for ADV Films. He provided the lead English voice for the character Jean Roque-Raltique in the anime series Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water. Parsons also voiced the role of Jean in the associated motion picture Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water: The Motion Picture. His additional anime voice roles from this period include the character Ohma in the series Soul Hunter, along with parts in Devil Lady and Jing: King of Bandits. A review of the English dub of Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water noted that Parsons, who was twelve years old at the time, delivered an excellent performance by capturing the optimism and determination of his character without sounding more mature than the boy he was portraying.
