Volker Brandt is a German actor and voice actor known primarily for his extensive work in dubbing, particularly as the long-standing German voice of Michael Douglas. Born on August 2, 1935 in Leipzig, Germany, Brandt completed his acting training at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich in 1957. His career has spanned decades across stage, television, film, and voice work.

Brandt began his career as a stage actor, performing at renowned venues including the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, the Schillertheater in Berlin, and the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe, as well as on various Viennese stages. He also worked with notable theater director Gustaf Gründgens. On screen, Brandt appeared in numerous German television productions. From 1981 to 1985, he played the role of Berlin Tatort detective Kommissar Walther. He also had recurring roles in the popular series Die Schwarzwaldklinik and Das Traumschiff. In 2006, he performed as Vater Hillman at the Karl May Festival in Bad Segeberg.

As a voice actor, Brandt is best known as the German dubbing voice of Michael Douglas. He first provided Douglas's voice in the television series Die Straßen von San Francisco and has remained Douglas’s primary German voice since 1980. His dubbing work for Douglas includes major films such as Wall Street and its sequel Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Basic Instinct, Falling Down, The Game, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Avengers: Endgame. Beyond Michael Douglas, Brandt has provided German voices for actors including Paul Reiser in Verrückt nach dir and Aliens – Die Rückkehr, as well as Lee Horsley in Nero Wolfe and Matt Houston.

While Brandt's primary focus has been dubbing for live-action films and television, his voice acting credits include work in anime and animated productions. He provided a voice role in the anime series Texhnolyze. Additionally, his animated film credits include providing the voice of Drosselmeier in The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.

Brandt has also been active in audio drama productions. He voiced Inspector Lestrade in the Sherlock Holmes audio drama series, Father Brown in the Pater Brown series from 2004 to 2017, and the character Atlan in the Perry Rhodan: Sternenozean series since 2006. He has also worked as a narrator for audiobooks.

Throughout his career, Brandt has collaborated with numerous actors and voice professionals, including Michael Kausch, Rolf Becker, and Manfred Lehmann. His voice acting portfolio spans several decades, and he remains active in the field, with recent work including dubbing Michael Douglas in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2023.
