Alan Shearman is an American actor, voice artist, screenwriter, and director born on January 15, 1947. Also known professionally as Alan Sherman, he has built a career spanning several decades that includes significant work in anime dubbing, Western animation, video games, and live-action film and television.

Within the field of anime voice acting, Shearman is perhaps best known for his role as Aristotle in the English dub of the 1999 to 2000 series Reign: The Conqueror, also known as Alexander Senki. This historical fantasy series, which reimagines the life of Alexander the Great, features Shearman providing the voice for the famous philosopher and tutor to the young Alexander. Another major anime credit includes the series Rave Master, where he voiced both the Narrator and the character Shiba. His additional work in English-dubbed anime includes a role as Chibi in the 1988 original video animation Demon City Shinjuku and a part in the film Steamboy.

Beyond his specific anime roles, Shearman has cultivated an extensive career as a voice actor across multiple media. He has contributed voices to Western animated films such as Happy Feet, its sequel, and Eragon. His voice is also widely recognized in the video game industry, with performances in major franchises including World of Warcraft and its expansions, the Dynasty Warriors series as characters like Huang Zhong and Wei Yan, Hearthstone, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls as Orek, Guild Wars, and Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2. He has also been heard in games such as Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II and Dragon’s Dogma.

Shearman began his career in live performance, co-writing and starring in the stage production Bullshot Crummond, which was later adapted into a 1983 film in which he played the title role. He was also a member of the comedy group Low Moan Spectacular. His on-screen acting credits include appearances in films like Escape From New York, The Incredible Shrinking Woman, and Jackie Chan’s First Strike, as well as a guest role on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. In addition to performing, Shearman has worked extensively behind the scenes in ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) and looping for numerous Hollywood blockbusters, including films in the How to Train Your Dragon and Fantastic Four series, as well as Justice League and The Last Witch Hunter. He has also worked as a screenwriter, with credits including the film 2001: A Space Travesty.
