Olivier Hémon was a French actor whose prolific career in voice acting made him a familiar presence in numerous animated series, particularly Japanese anime dubbed for French audiences. Born on September 3, 1950 in Paris, Hémon began his artistic training at the Cours Simon and maintained a parallel career in live-action cinema, appearing in films such as Nikita and Papy fait de la résistance while also becoming a recurring collaborator of director Jean-Pierre Mocky. His voice work, however, became his most widespread legacy, and he passed away on December 2, 2022 at the age of 72.

As a voice actor, Hémon built an extensive filmography across the 1990s and 2000s, specializing in secondary roles and character parts. In the realm of anime, he provided French voices for a wide range of series. One of his notable roles was Aristote in the 1999 series Alexander, known in English as Reign: The Conqueror, which reimagines the life of Alexander the Great with futuristic designs. His other significant anime credits include Vargas and Grava Aston in Vision of Escaflowne, a member of the organization Seele in Neon Genesis Evangelion, Teddy Boomer in Cowboy Bebop, the Old Sage in Inu-Yasha, a professor in X, and M. Outside in the Eden of the East films. He also voiced characters in series such as Crying Freeman, Gun Frontier, and Cosmowarrior Zero: La Jeunesse d'Albator.

Beyond Japanese animation, Hémon lent his voice to many Western cartoons. He was particularly active in the early 1990s French dubbing of Lucky Luke, where he voiced Jack Dalton and several other characters. He also played Rocksteady in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Les Chevaliers d'écaille), Walt Street in Les Petites Sorcières, Rigatoni in the Rayman animated series, and Planouf in Allô la Terre, ici les Martin. His voice could also be heard as Dr. Aisenstein in an episode of Totally Spies!. In addition to animation, Hémon had a substantial career dubbing live-action performances for film and television, most notably providing the French voice of Freddy Krueger, played by Robert Englund, as well as dubbing actors such as Ben Kingsley, Jonathan Pryce, and Matt Frewer.
