Tomohiro Matsu, born Takahiro Narimatsu on October 13, 1972, in Fukuoka Prefecture, was a Japanese light novelist, scriptwriter, and manga author who became a notable figure in the light novel and anime industries before his death on May 2, 2016, from liver cancer. His career in publishing began prior to his light novel debut; under the pen name Makoto Matsumoto, he wrote the manga series My Dearest Devil Princess, which was illustrated by Maika Netsu and published from 2004 to 2007.

Matsu made his light novel debut in October 2008 with the series Mayoi Neko Overrun!, which was published under the Super Dash Bunko imprint and ran for twelve volumes until 2012. This series, a romantic comedy centered on a young confectioner and his unconventional companions, became one of his signature works and received both a manga adaptation and a television anime in 2010, for which he served as the original creator and series composer. His next major success came with Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father!, known in Japan as Papa no Iu Koto o Kikinasai!. Published by Shueisha's Dash X imprint, the series spanned eighteen volumes from 2009 to 2015 and told the story of a college student who becomes the guardian of his three orphaned nieces, a premise that highlighted his recurring focus on family dynamics. This series was also adapted into a manga, a television anime in 2012, and subsequent original video animations.

Beyond his original novel series, Matsu was an active collaborator in anime production. He contributed as a scriptwriter and held the role of series composition for Queen's Blade: The Exiled Virgin in 2009 and provided story concept cooperation for Ixion Saga DT in 2012. His involvement in the creative community extended to his participation in Comiket, where he was a member of the event's preparatory committee staff and contributed to its fortieth-anniversary publication. In the realm of video games, his scenario-writing credits include work on Sentimental Graffiti 2 in 2000, Rasepon: Sky Fantasy in 2003, The Parallel of Haruhi Suzumiya in 2009, and Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni in 2015.

Near the end of his life, Matsu was working on Hatena Illusion, a mystery-romance series of which four volumes were released but remained unfinished at the time of his death. His final creative work was the light novel series Märchen Mädchen, for which he had completed a draft before passing; the story was later finalized by StoryWorks and published posthumously in 2017. Both of these works were later adapted into anime series, with Hatena Illusion premiering in 2020 and Märchen Mädchen in 2018.

Matsu’s artistic identity was characterized by seinen-targeted narratives that blended romantic comedy with heartfelt explorations of family and youthful relationships. Following his death, his impact on the industry was recognized in a public memorial service where his coffin was decorated with illustrations by notable artists, and the theme song from Mayoi Neko Overrun! was played in tribute. His works, which found success across light novels, manga, and anime, continued to be adapted posthumously, cementing his legacy as a prolific creator whose stories of unconventional families resonated with a wide audience.
