Matthias Busch
Description
Matthias Busch is a German voice actor, stage performer, and singer born in East Berlin on August 5, 1984. He studied English and Romance philology with a focus on Spanish at the Humboldt University of Berlin while also pursuing private training in singing and acting. His professional voice acting debut came in 2014 when he provided the German voice for Christopher Aonuma in the anime series Digimon Fusion, with the character originally performed by Takeshi Kusao. He later took over dialogue direction for the 2024 video game Planet Coaster 2 and the Disney+ telenovela Return to Las Sabinas.
As a voice actor, Busch has amassed approximately fifty credited speaking roles across film and television series. His work is concentrated in German-language dubbing of international productions, with a significant focus on anime. Following his debut, he voiced the character Sun Shadow in Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, Jako in Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato, and Takurou Oiwake in Haikyu!!. More recent anime credits include roles in Shangri-La Frontier, KamiKatsu: My Work as a Missionary in a Godless World, and Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs. He also performed as Ozaki in the 2018 reboot of Captain Tsubasa and as Bartra Liones as a young man in The Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath of the Gods.
Beyond anime, Busch has contributed dubbing voices for numerous live-action series. His credits include 1923, Snowpiercer, Arcane, The Rookie, Poldark, and the Netflix series Glitch and DI4RIES. He also voiced roles in the German versions of The Walking Dead, When They See Us, and White House Farm Murders.
In addition to his screen work, Busch has an extensive background in musical theatre. He performed as part of the ensemble for productions at the Staatsoper im Schillertheater in Berlin in 2014, appearing in Des Simplicius Simplicissimus Jugend and Moskau Tscherjomuschki. His stage musical roles include Ram and Ram's Dad in Heathers, the Squip in Be More Chill, Ben in Kopfkino, and the character Billy in a production of Carrie. He also performed in Marco Polo and Wemmicks.

He stands one hundred seventy-eight centimeters tall, has dark blonde hair and blue-green eyes, and naturally speaks the Berlin dialect. His vocal range is baritone.
