Takeshi Azuma
Description
Takeshi Azuma is a Japanese manga artist known for creating the original manga series Ultimate Otaku Teacher, also known as Denpa Kyoshi. Born in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, Azuma began his professional manga career in 2003 with the one-shot story Ibaraki!!, published in the magazine Shonen Sunday Super. Over the following years, he produced several other one-shot works for the same publication, including Lovers Dog, Cappuccino!!, and Dead or Love. His first serialized manga was Chō Dokyū Shōjo 4946, which ran in Shonen Sunday Super from 2009 to 2011.
Azuma achieved wider recognition with his next serialized work, Ultimate Otaku Teacher. The manga was published in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine from November 2011 to March 2017, with its chapters collected into 26 tankobon volumes. The series follows Junichiro Kagami, a brilliant but unmotivated otaku who becomes a high school teacher and uses his unconventional otaku knowledge to solve problems. An anime television adaptation of Ultimate Otaku Teacher was produced by the studio A-1 Pictures, airing 24 episodes from April to September 2015. For the anime, Azuma is credited as the original creator of the series.
Following the conclusion of Ultimate Otaku Teacher, Azuma worked as the artist for the manga Chrono Magia: ∞ no Gears, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 2018 to 2019. He is also the author of the manga Badminton Girls. As a creator, Takeshi Azuma is recognized for his work within the shonen genre, creating stories that blend comedy, school life, and otaku culture themes, as exemplified by his most significant contribution to the industry, Ultimate Otaku Teacher.
