Mao Kawasaki is a Japanese actress and former voice artist born on November 13, 1986, in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Her career in entertainment began in the mid-1990s, with her first major performance coming in 1994 when she was cast in the role of Chibiusa, also known as Sailor Chibi Moon, in the Sailor Moon musical series. She remained involved with these stage productions for several years, later also portraying the characters Chibi Chibi and Black Lady.

Kawasaki transitioned into anime voice acting in the mid-2000s, taking on one of her most recognized roles in 2005. That year, she voiced the character Sakura Kasugano in the animated film Street Fighter Alpha: Generations. Also in 2005, she was selected through a general audition to voice the lead role of Shan‑in Lee, also known as Glass Heart, in the television series Angel Heart. This role marked a significant point in her career as the primary protagonist of a full-length anime series.

Throughout her brief career, Kawasaki was affiliated with several talent agencies. She began with Gekidan Himawari, later moved to Fujiga Jimusho, and was eventually associated with AQUA. Beyond her voice work for anime, she also appeared in a live-action television production, playing a small role as a reporter in the 2006 special drama Detective Conan 10th Anniversary: The Challenge of Shinichi Kudo - The Prologue Before Farewell. Her professional activities in the entertainment industry concluded around 2006, when she is reported to have retired from acting.
