Homero Villareal

Homero Villarreal is a Mexican translator, voice actor, and announcer who began his dubbing career in 1996 and retired in 2015 after a prolific body of work. He holds a degree in Graphic Communication from the National School of Plastic Arts at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. In addition to his voice work, Villarreal worked as a translator of texts in English, German, French, Portuguese, and Italian. His translations of the Lord of the Rings film series are noted for having helped update and modernize the approach to dubbing in Mexico and Latin America.

In the field of anime voice acting, Villarreal is recognized for the role of Ryo Kurokawa in the Japanese animated series Corrector Yui. Beyond anime, his dubbing credits for live-action series include the character Gul Dukat in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Uncle JoJo Diggety in Pepper Ann. His film dubbing work includes providing the voice for Geordi LaForge in Star Trek 9: Insurrection, a role in Seven Years in Tibet, and playing the grandfather in The Parent Trap. He also contributed additional voices for films such as Tarzan, Dr. Dolittle, The Prince of Egypt, Men in Black, and the original dub of Spawn. Villarreal also participated in the ABC Radio radionovela Los Archivos Secretos de la Policía and performed commercial voice work for organizations including the Instituto Federal Electoral and Interlingua.
