Neusa Maria Faro
Description
Neusa Maria Faro was a Brazilian actress and voice actress known for her work in dubbing Japanese animation and tokusatsu series for Brazilian television. Born on February 18, 1945, Faro began her artistic training at the School of Dramatic Art at the University of São Paulo. Before her work in voice acting, she had a substantial career in theater. Her work as a dubbing artist was primarily concentrated in the 1980s and was produced by the now-defunct Álamo studio in São Paulo.
One of her most recognized voice roles was that of the character Apple in the anime series Zillion. This anime was broadcast on Brazilian television networks, including Rede Globo and TV Gazeta, in 1988. In addition to this lead role, Faro also provided the voice for the villain Kilmaza, the sister of the antagonist Kilza, in the live-action tokusatsu series Jaspion, which was a significant success in Brazil during the late 1980s. Her voice work extended to other Japanese productions of the era; she also performed supporting voice roles for the Brazilian version of the series Changeman.
While her dubbing career was focused on a small number of projects from Japanese media, these roles became enduringly popular within Brazilian fan communities. Her work on these series, which aired on Rede Manchete and other networks, cemented her status as a memorable voice actress for a generation of viewers. Neusa Maria Faro passed away on July 7, 2023.
