Tom Tweedy

Description
Tom Tweedy is an American voice actor known primarily for his work in English-language dubs of Japanese anime during the late 1970s and early 1980s. His most significant and well-documented role is that of Mark Venture in the English adaptation of the space opera series Star Blazers.

Mark Venture serves as a key member of the starship Argo and the best friend of the protagonist, Derek Wildstar. Tweedy voiced this character throughout the original Star Blazers series, which was an English rewrite and dub of the 1974 Japanese anime Space Battleship Yamato. He continued in this role for the subsequent story arc, Star Blazers: The Comet Empire, the English adaptation of the second Yamato series. The role of Mark Venture was a central one, appearing in the vast majority of the series episodes.

Tweedy's work on Star Blazers remains his most prominent achievement in voice acting. In the cast for the English dub, he performed alongside actors such as Kenneth Meseroll as Derek Wildstar, Amy Howard as Nova, and Chris Latta as Sgt. Knox. Decades after the series originally aired, supplemental material was produced that featured Tweedy discussing his work. Specifically, a DVD release of Star Blazers: The Comet Empire included an exclusive interview with Tom Tweedy and Amy Howard Wilson, who voiced the character Nova.

No information is available regarding any other anime voice roles, his professional training, career outside of this production, or any further notable achievements.
