Manpei Takagi

Description
Manpei Takagi is a Japanese former actor and model born on October 22, 1985 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. While his career included work across television, film, and theater, his contribution to anime voice acting is most notably defined by a single significant role.

Takagi began his entertainment career in 2005 and was active until his retirement from the industry in April 2017. He was affiliated with the agency Stardust Promotion. Although his acting portfolio is extensive, his work as a voice actor in anime is limited, with his only major credited role being Yuto in the 2014 series Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. In this series, he voiced a character from the Xyz Dimension who plays a key role in the story.

A distinctive aspect of his involvement with Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V is a recurring collaboration with his identical twin brother, Shinpei Takagi. The brothers were cast together as dimensional counterparts within the series; Manpei voiced Yuto, while Shinpei voiced Yugo. This mirrored their previous live-action work, notably the television drama and film adaptations of Ouran High School Host Club, where they portrayed the twin characters Kaoru and Hikaru Hitachiin.

Beyond his anime work, Takagi is widely recognized for his role in the tokusatsu genre. From 2007 to 2008, he portrayed Retsu Fukami, also known as Geki Blue, in the Super Sentai series Juken Sentai Gekiranger. He reprised this role in several subsequent films and direct-to-video features. His career also included roles in dramas such as Mei-chan no Shitsuji, Cafe Kichijoji de, and Ninkyo Helper, as well as stage productions.

A notable achievement of his career was the successful transition from live-action tokusatsu to an animated franchise, taking on a central role in a long-running and popular series like Yu-Gi-Oh!. After over a decade in the entertainment industry, Manpei Takagi retired from acting in April 2017.
