Dominik Freiberger was born on December 6, 1977 in Germany. He began his performance training after a period of university study in economics and teaching, when a theater director brought him to the stage. Freiberger completed a three-year apprenticeship at the Dortmund Theatre under the guidance of a theater director and a celebrated chamber actress who also served as a lecturer at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Upon completing his training, he was offered an engagement and performed as a member of the Dortmund Theatre ensemble until the summer of 2007.

In addition to his stage career, Freiberger has worked extensively as a voice actor for German-language dubbing. One of his most notable dubbing roles was providing the German voice for actor Kristian Bruun as Donnie Hendrix in forty-eight episodes of the science fiction series Orphan Black. He has also dubbed voices for numerous other films and television series. In anime, Freiberger is known for his role as Kanetsugu Naoe in the German dub of the Samurai Warriors animated television series, which is based on the video game franchise of the same name.

Beyond screen dubbing, Freiberger has worked as an audiobook and radio drama narrator. His audiobook work includes historical non-fiction and children's detective stories, and he has been a host for the German radio station WDR 4. His radio drama credits include productions for WDR, such as Philip K. Dick's The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch and various episodes of the children's storytelling series As Long as Wishing Still Helped.
