The series blends harem comedy, supernatural battles, and slice-of-life elements, and has become a long-running franchise with numerous volumes. Its popularity led to an anime adaptation produced by studio Silver Link.
Beyond his flagship light novel series, Takehaya has continued to write for visual novels. His later game credits include I Have No Place to Put It! and Misfits After School. His body of work demonstrates a consistent focus on character-driven narratives that often combine elements of fantasy, science fiction, and everyday life, a formula that proved successful with Invaders of the Rokujyōma!?.
