Mara Winzer is a German voice actress and singer known for her extensive work in anime and cartoon dubbing. Born Margarita Fnoucek on October 6, 1953, in Vienna, Austria, she trained as a singer and actress at the Music Conservatory of the City of Vienna before relocating to Munich in 1974.

Winzer began her career as a pop and schlager singer, achieving a breakthrough in the German preliminary selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Sternenland. She transitioned to voice acting in 1991 and has since amassed over fifty speaking roles in film and television dubs.

Winzer is most widely recognized as the German voice of Luna, the talking black cat who serves as a mentor to the Sailor Guardians. She assumed this role starting with the second season of the Sailor Moon anime, voicing Luna in Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon SuperS, and Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, as well as in the associated films Sailor Moon R The Movie and Sailor Moon S The Movie. In addition to providing Luna’s speaking voice, Winzer performed all of the insert songs featured in the German dub of Sailor Moon from that point forward, and her vocals are included on the soundtrack CD Sailor Moon Deutsche Original Songs.

Beyond Sailor Moon, Winzer’s anime credits include roles in the German dubs of major international series. She voiced Pummeluff, the German name for Jigglypuff, in Pokémon and its first film, Pokémon The Movie Mewtwo Strikes Back. She also provided early voices for Susi in Pokémon. In the world of Western animation, Winzer lent her voice to several characters in long-running series. She was the first German voice for Diane Simmons and Bonnie Swanson on Family Guy, for Brandine Del Roy and Lindsey Naegle on The Simpsons, and for Linda van Schoonhoven on Futurama. Her film work includes voicing Janice in The Muppets Letters to Santa.

Winzer has also worked as an audiobook narrator for German-language audio dramas based on fairy tales, including productions from the Simsala Grimm series such as Rapunzel and The Frog Prince. In addition to her performance career, she successfully operates an acting agency in Munich.
