Touya Mikanagi is a Japanese manga artist and illustrator known for creating the supernatural fantasy series Karneval. Mikanagi is credited as the sole writer and illustrator of the Karneval manga, which began serialization in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero Sum magazine on August 28, 2007. The series is published under the josei demographic, targeting an adult female audience. The manga concluded its run on October 28, 2021, and was collected into twenty-eight volumes. Mikanagi's work on Karneval led to a thirteen-episode anime adaptation produced by the studio Manglobe, which aired in Japan from April to June 2013. Beyond the Karneval manga, Mikanagi has also contributed as an illustrator for the novel ROOT∞REXX Honey Melody, written by Satsuki Uzuki and published in 2015. The English language version of the Karneval manga is published by Yen Press. The central narrative of Karneval follows a young boy named Nai and a thief named Gareki as they become involved with a powerful defense organization called Circus while searching for a man named Karoku. The series is noted for its blend of mystery, adventure, and intricate character relationships.
