Kumi Yagami is a Japanese former singer and voice actor, born on June 13, 1994, in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. She began her entertainment career as a member of the idol group SKE48, passing the first-generation auditions in July 2008 and becoming a member of Team S. Her early work included participating in numerous singles with SKE48 and AKB48, where she was selected as an Under Girls member in the AKB48 general elections of 2010 and 2012.

Her sole major anime voice role came through the franchise AKB0048. In December 2011, Yagami successfully passed an open voice actor audition for the series. She was cast as Sonata Shinonome, a main character and one of the younger trainees aspiring to join the titular idol group. She voiced the character in the first season of AKB0048 in 2012 and reprised the role for AKB0048 next stage in 2013. As part of the show’s main cast, she also became a member of the voice actor unit NO NAME, which performed the series theme songs "Kibou ni Tsuite" and "Yume wa Nandomo Umarekawaru".

Yagami’s voice acting work is contained to the AKB0048 franchise and is closely tied to her career as an idol. She did not pursue professional voice acting training prior to the role. Her performance as Sonata Shinonome was noted for its unique and distinctive vocal quality, which was well received by anime fans. Fellow cast member Haruka Ishida praised Yagami for her natural instinct and bold, impressive acting, despite her lack of prior experience in the field.

In November 2012, she announced her graduation from SKE48 and subsequently retired from the entertainment industry in May 2013, ending her brief career as a voice actor.
