Ulrike Lau is a German voice actress, dialogue writer, and dubbing director born on September 25, 1956, in Hamburg, Germany. She relocated to Berlin at a very young age and later studied acting at the Mozarteum in Salzburg from 1979 to 1982. Since 1990, she has worked as a freelance voice artist, lending her warm and dark voice to numerous characters in film and television.

In the field of anime, Lau is recognized for her role as Reiko Kusakabe in the series Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. Her other work in animation includes providing the German voice for the character Abuelita in the Pixar film Coco. She has also voiced multiple roles in the Detective Conan film series, including a character referred to as Mrs. Hudson in The Phantom of Baker Street, an old woman in The Time-Bombed Skyscraper, a nurse in Captured in Her Eyes, Ayumis mother in The Last Wizard of the Century, a fortune teller in The Private Eyes' Requiem, and Tae Yamakura in Crossroad in the Ancient Capital. Additionally, she voiced Panthermama in the animated film Kleiner Dodo.

Beyond anime, Lau has an extensive career in dubbing for live-action productions. She is particularly known as the German voice of Counselor Deanna Troi, played by Marina Sirtis, in various Star Trek series including The Next Generation, Voyager, and Enterprise. She has also dubbed actresses such as Oprah Winfrey, Lainie Kazan, Jenifer Lewis, and Octavia Spencer.

Apart from her voice work, Lau has worked as a dialogue writer and dubbing director on numerous projects. Her credits in this capacity include the television series iCarly, Nurse Jackie, and Sam & Cat, as well as the anime film Ocean Waves. She was also a cellist for the Berlin-based band 17 Hippies for fifteen years.
