Description
Maki Sakai is a Japanese actress and voice actress known for her work across both live-action and animated productions. As a voice actress, she is recognized for her role in the anime series Michiko & Hatchin, where she provides the voice for the character Atsuko Jackson, a determined policewoman with a personal history with the show's protagonist. The series, which was produced by the studio manglobe and premiered in Japan in October 2008, featured Sakai in this prominent supporting role. Beyond her voice work, Sakai has had an extensive career as a live-action actress, appearing in numerous Japanese television dramas and films since her debut in 1992. Her notable screen credits include roles in the television dramas Daburu kitchin and Watashi no unmei, as well as the films United Red Army, for which she won the Japan Movie Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2009, and Gozonji! Fundoshi zukin, for which she was nominated for the Best New Actress prize at the Japanese Professional Movie Awards in 1998. Maki Sakai was born in Tokyo on May 17, 1970.
