Anita Yung
Description
Anita Yung is a Canadian sound editor and voice actor, originally trained as a voice over actor. She is best known for her work in the rebooted anime series Black Jack, which saw a North American release in 2018. Within this series, she voiced several supporting characters, most notably Chiyoko Wato, as well as Kumiko Honma and Konomi Kuwata, also known as The Black Queen. Beyond her role in Black Jack, Yung provided voice work for the long-running NHK Japanese children's show WakuWaku Be Ponkickies, where she voiced the lead character Gachapin, a green dinosaur, along with other characters including Connie and two of the three pink bears, Lolo and Mi. In addition to her performance career, Yung has worked extensively in post-audio as a sound editor for animated series, including the popular shows PAW Patrol and Rubble & Crew. Her work in sound editing was recognized when she and her team accepted the 2024 Canadian Screen Award for Best Sound for Animation. Yung has also moved into writing and directing, with her debut film being The Midnight Hour. Her background in communications and a fascination with audio engineering, which developed while she was working as a voice actor, led her to return to school for post-production and transition into audio post-production and sound design for film, television, animation, and video games.
