Shin'ya Kote is a Japanese actor and voice actor born on December 25, 1973, in Kanagawa Prefecture. He is a graduate of Waseda University's School of Education and is represented by the talent agency Office PSC. Beyond voice acting, Kote also works as a stage actor, writer, and director. He has a known interest in psychology and Japanese mythology, particularly the Kojiki, and previously presided over a theatre company called Gekidan innerchild.

One of his early and most recognized voice roles is Shigeo Taira in the anime series Capeta, which aired from 2005 to 2006. In this sports anime about kart racing, he portrays the father of the protagonist, Kappeita Capeta Taira. Shigeo works for a paving company and is a reserved but hardworking parent who comes to understand his son's passion for racing.

Kote has contributed to several other notable anime productions. He voiced Rex Godwin in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, a significant antagonist in the series. His other anime credits include the character Igarashi in Great Pretender, Santa in Jewelpet, and Zeksren Ravenard in the Landreaall original video animation. He has also reprised his role as Igarashi for the web anime sequel Great Pretender razbliuto.

In live-action productions, Kote is known for his recurring role as Igarashi in the popular The Confidence Man JP franchise, including its television series and films. He has also appeared in the television dramas Tokyo MER: Mobile Emergency Room and its film sequel, as well as the live-action adaptations of the manga series Suits. Kote has a frequent professional relationship with director Yuichi Fukuda, appearing in his films such as The Legend of the Stardust Brothers and the live-action film adaptation of the manga Sakamoto Days.
