Jacques Garcia was a French actor, voice actor, and dubbing director, recognized for his contributions to the French-language versions of animated series and films from the 1970s through the 1990s. Born Jacques Paul Soreto Garcia in Paris on March 12, 1925, he later founded the dubbing studio Garcia et Ktorza Productions. He passed away on December 4, 2000 at the age of 75.

Garcia’s career encompassed both live-action dubbing and animation voice work. In live-action cinema, he was known for providing the French voice of actor Donald Pleasence in several films, particularly as Dr. Samuel Loomis in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers.

Within the field of animation, Garcia took on multiple roles both in front of the microphone and as a creative lead. He served as an ADR director for the French dub of several anime productions, including Igano Kabamaru, also known as Ninja Boy, and Treasure Island. As a voice actor in anime, he is most notably recognized for his performances in two specific productions from the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Garcia voiced Capitaine Smollett in the French adaptation of the 1978 anime series Treasure Island, which was itself based on the classic novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. In this adaptation, he also provided the voices for additional characters, including Merry and Pew.

Another significant voice role was Quincy Harker in the 1980 anime television special Dracula: Sovereign Of The Damned. This production, based on the Marvel Comics series The Tomb of Dracula, follows the vampire count as he marries a woman named Domini and becomes the target of vampire hunters, including Quincy Harker, who is depicted as the wheelchair-bound son of Jonathan and Mina Harker from Bram Stoker’s original novel.

Beyond these key anime roles, Garcia’s voice acting portfolio in French animation included works such as Les Chevaliers du Temps, Bigfoot et les Machines Musclées, and Inhumanoids. He also worked as a dubbing director on Bioman, a Japanese tokusatsu superhero series, demonstrating the breadth of his involvement in adapting Japanese and other international productions for French audiences. His work in this era places him among the French dubbing talents who helped establish the voice casts for imported animation during the growth of anime fandom in France.
