Saori Nishihara

Saori Nishihara is a Japanese voice actor and narrator known for her calm yet cheerful vocal quality and natural reading style. Her career in voice work began after she graduated from the Fukuoka Announcing College, where she trained as an announcer and narrator. Before moving to Tokyo in 2004, she worked as a radio personality and narrator in Fukuoka. After relocating to the capital, she built a career that includes voice work for major Japanese broadcasters such as NHK, Fuji TV, and TV Asahi.

Nishihara made her debut as an anime voice actor in 2007 with her most widely recognized role, Yui Narumi in the television series Lucky Star. Yui Narumi is the easygoing, married police officer and cousin of the main character Konata Izumi. In addition to the original anime series, Nishihara reprised the role for multiple Lucky Star video games, including Lucky Star: Net Idol Meister, Lucky Star no Mori, and Lucky Star: Ryoō Gakuen Ōtōsai, as well as the drama CD and character song recordings for the franchise.

Outside of her anime work, Nishihara has an extensive career as a commercial and program narrator, serving clients such as NTT DoCoMo, Toyota Motor Corporation, Ajinomoto, and Shiseido. Starting in 2021, she began working extensively with international production companies in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Singapore, and China. Her international commercial clients have included YouTube Music, VISA Instalments, and LVMH. She also performed the lead voice role of Miikshi in the YouTube series Miikshi: Cosmic Rays. In recognition of her work, Nishihara was nominated in the Japanese Animation category at the Voice Arts Awards in 2023.

Nishihara established her own home recording studio in 2020, allowing her to accept remote voice work internationally. She continues to work as a freelance voice actor and narrator, also serving as the representative of her own company, SAOLIO. In addition to her commercial and anime work, she performs readings of picture books and holds storytelling events for children as well as independent reading events for adults.
