Akira Okamori is a Japanese actor and voice actor born on October 5, 1958, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, though some sources list his birth year as 1961. His real name is Nobuya Okamoto, and he is affiliated with the theater company Tobiraza. Okamori is known for providing the Japanese voice for the character Genzo Someya in the anime series NieA_7, also known as NieA under 7, which aired in 2000. Genzo Someya is a childhood friend of the character Mayuko Chigasaki and is recognized by his dreadlock hair tied with a bandana. In the video game field, Okamori voiced the character Ronyx J. Kenny in the original version of the role-playing game Star Ocean. In later remakes and ports of the game, including Star Ocean: First Departure and Star Ocean: Second Evolution, the role was taken over by voice actor Kenji Hamada. Beyond his voice work, Okamori has appeared in live-action television dramas, including roles as Kazufumi Mukoyama in the 2021 Taiga drama Reach Beyond the Blue Sky, as a doctor in the 2014 series Villiany Ganbo, and as Tsugunosuke Kawai in the 2013 Taiga drama Yae's Sakura.
