Deborah Makepeace

Deborah Makepeace was a British television, theatre, and voiceover actress known for her work from the early 1970s through the mid-1990s. She trained at Elmhurst Ballet School in Surrey, originally aspiring to become a ballerina before transitioning to acting. Her career in anime voice acting is a small but notable part of her filmography, for which she sometimes used the pseudonym Cynthia Meade.

Makepeace began her professional acting career at the age of fourteen with the lead role of Sara Crewe in the BBC television remake of A Little Princess in 1973. She subsequently appeared in numerous British television productions throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including roles in The Chinese Puzzle, Angels, Edward the Seventh, and Penmarric. She also worked extensively in repertory theatre, performing in productions such as The Tempest and earning critical acclaim for her portrayal of Bianca in a 1984 stage production of The Taming of the Shrew.

Makepeace entered the field of anime voice acting in the early 1990s, providing English dub voices for several projects released in the United Kingdom. Her first known voice role in the medium was as Elam in the 1990 Manga UK dub of The Heroic Legend of Arislan. She also provided the voice of Suzuko in the English dub of Rumic World: Fire Tripper, a role for which she was credited under her pseudonym Cynthia Meade. One of her final known professional credits was as the voice of Ashura in the English adaptation of Seiden RG Veda. Deborah Makepeace died from cancer on February 2, 1999.
