Karl-Heinz Grewe was a German actor, voice actor, theatre director, and lyricist. Born on May 14, 1944 in Bockum-Hövel, he pursued a career in the performing arts that included stage work in Berlin during the 1970s and appearances in German feature films in the 1980s. However, he became best known to a wide audience for his prolific work as a dubbing and voice actor, a career that began around 1979 and eventually encompassed over 700 film and television productions.

Within the realm of anime and animated series, Grewe provided German voices for numerous supporting roles. One of his most recognized performances is as the character Nezu in the influential cyberpunk film Akira, where he voiced the role in the first German dubbing, also known as the 1991 cinema version. His additional anime credits include roles in series such as Romeo and the Black Brothers as Tino, A Little Princess Sara as Peter's Father, and The New Adventures of Kimba The White Lion, where he voiced characters including a park ranger and a ship's captain. He also contributed voices to the series Tsubasa Chronicle, Pollyanna, and Katry, the Cow Girl.

Beyond anime, Grewe's voice was heard in a vast array of international live-action productions and animated series. His work included voice roles in popular shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, where he was the first German voice of the character Dirty Bubble, as well as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Emergency Room, and Friends. He voiced characters in films ranging from Beverly Hills Cop II and Gettysburg to animated features like Anastasia and DuckTales: The Movie – Treasure of the Lost Lamp. Karl-Heinz Grewe passed away in Berlin in September 2009 at the age of 65.
