Lanelle Markgraf is an American actress and voice artist known primarily for her work in the English dub of the anime series Oh My Goddess! She was born on December 3, 1968, in San Antonio, Texas, and has also lived in North Carolina, California, and Colorado, where she resides as of recent records.
Markgraf is best recognized for her role as Urd, the mischievous and powerful older sister of the goddess Belldandy, in the original English-language adaptation of the Oh My Goddess! franchise. She provided the voice for Urd in AnimEigo's dub of the original five-episode Oh My Goddess! OVA series, which was released in the early 1990s. Her performance in this series remains her most prominent credit in anime voice acting. Other English voice actors have portrayed Urd in subsequent adaptations, including Mary Elizabeth McGlynn in the movie, Wendee Lee in The Adventures of Mini-Goddess, and Vibe Jones in the TV series. Markgraf's association with the character led to her being invited as a guest at anime conventions, such as the Nan Desu Kan convention in 2000, where she appeared alongside other American voice actors from the OVA, including Juliet Cesario and Scott Simpson.
Beyond her voice work, Markgraf has worked as an actress and assistant director on several live-action television and film projects. Her credits include a role in the television series American Gothic from 1995 and the television movie Something Borrowed, Something Blue from 1997. She also performed additional voice work for English-language anime adaptations, credited with providing additional voices for the series Aa! Megamisama! (the Japanese title for Oh My Goddess!). In her personal interests, she has expressed a goal of running a marathon on each of the seven continents, having completed races in North America and Europe.
