Merete Holst

Description
Merete Holst, also known professionally as Merete Brettschneider, is a German actress and voice actor recognized for her extensive work in dubbing anime and live-action series. She was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1974. Holst began her career in the entertainment industry after completing a degree in graphic design, transitioning into acting with small roles on German television.

Her entry into voice acting came through a voiceover project, which led her to create home demo files and apply to talent agencies. She started by dubbing background conversations, but her breakthrough came when she was cast in her first leading voice role as the character Temari in the popular anime series Naruto. This role marked the beginning of a long association with the franchise; she continued to voice Temari in Naruto Shippuden, multiple Naruto feature films, and the sequel series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

Beyond the Naruto series, Holst has voiced numerous other notable anime characters. She is known as the German voice of Lenalee Lee in D.Gray-Man, Mizuki Shibata in The Irregular at Magic High School, Mitsuki Nase in Beyond the Boundary, and Tomone in Noragami. Her other anime credits include roles in Akuma no Riddle, Rage of Bahamut: Genesis, Comet Lucifer, and B: The Beginning.

Holst has also performed voice work for Western animation. She has voiced characters such as Lucy and Lisa Loud in the long-running series Willkommen bei den Louds (The Loud House), Pucca in Pucca, Lola in Angelo!, and Caitlin in Thomas & Friends. In addition to animation, she has a significant body of work dubbing live-action performances. She is particularly recognized for providing the German voice of Kara Danvers, also known as Supergirl, across the television series Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. Her other live-action dubbing credits include voice work for actresses such as Melissa Benoist, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Alexandra Daddario. She also holds a fixed role as Marie in the popular German audio drama series Die drei!!!.

One notable aspect of Holst's career is her frequent collaborations through dubbing the same actors across multiple projects. She has repeatedly voiced characters originally performed by Japanese voice actor Romi Park, including her signature role of Temari, as well as roles in film and television series. Similarly, she has dubbed English-speaking actresses such as Yael Grobglas, Tara Strong, and Mae Whitman in various productions.
