Jonny Cruz is an American voice actor, actor, filmmaker, and musician. He was born Jonathan Willie Hernández on December 1, 1982, in El Paso, Texas, and chose the professional surname Cruz in honor of his grandmother. He studied at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he pursued computer science, acting, filmmaking, and communication media.

Before gaining prominence in voice acting, Cruz built a career in live-action film and television. He appeared in direct-to-video action films such as Walking Tall: Lone Justice, Missionary Man, and Exit Speed, and made guest appearances on television series including Prison Break, The Closer, General Hospital, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Castle. He also wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the independent feature film Small Timers, a project that took six years to complete. In 2016, he voiced the character Chopper on the Amazon animated series The Stinky & Dirty Show.

Cruz is best known for his voice work in video games. He has been the voice of Lúcio Correia dos Santos, the popular Brazilian DJ and freedom fighter, in Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch since 2016, a role he reprised for Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch 2. His other notable video game roles include Jordan Cross in Hitman, Lucas Rivera in Need for Speed Heat, and additional voices in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. He also voiced Jesús in the Netflix anime-style series Seis Manos.

In the realm of anime voice acting, Cruz plays the role of Yonabaru in the English dub of the animated film All You Need Is Kill, based on the light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. The film, produced by STUDIO 4°C, features an English dub cast that includes Stephanie Sheh, Cherami Leigh, and Dave Fennoy.

Beyond acting, Cruz is a musician who performs with his musical improv team Power Up in Los Angeles and Hollywood, playing guitar and creating vocal harmonies and beatbox arrangements. He has also taught classes on self-confidence and improvisation.
