Markus Feustel

Description
Markus Feustel is a German voice actor and stage performer known for his work in anime dubbing for the German-language market. His professional profile identifies him as a trained actor with a background in theater, and his voice work has increasingly focused on leading roles in anime series, particularly for the streaming platform Crunchyroll.

Feustel was born in Bremen in 1992 and is based in Hamburg, though he also works in other major German-speaking cities including Berlin, Munich, and Vienna. He completed his primary professional acting training at the Schauspielschule Bühnenstudio Hamburg in 2016. On stage, he has performed at prominent venues such as the Hamburger Kammerspiele, the Altonaer Theater in Hamburg, the Theater der Jugend in Vienna, and Theater Freiburg. His stage repertoire includes leading roles in productions such as "Vincent will Meer," "Odysseus," and "Backbeat." Beyond acting, his listed skills include gymnastics, stage combat, acrobatics, and playing the guitar, and he speaks German as a native language along with English and Spanish.

Feustel has established himself as a regular contributor to anime dubs produced for Crunchyroll. His most prominent role to date is as the voice of Rudo Surebrec in the series Gachiakuta. In an interview about this role, Feustel described the challenges of voicing the character, particularly the sudden need to use a higher vocal register after it was decided not to cast a child actor. He noted that capturing Rudo’s complex emotional states, which blend aggression, self-doubt, and vulnerability, was more demanding than simply performing loud or angry moments. He works directly with finished, unedited episodes for synchronization and often records two to three episodes in a single session. Feustel has stated that while he does not read manga frequently, he is a fan of anime, citing Studio Ghibli as a favorite, and that series like One Piece and Dragon Ball Z initially sparked his interest in voice acting.

In addition to Gachiakuta, his other anime voice roles include Fabio in Clevatess, Dahu in To Be Hero X, and Amagi in Sanda. His dubbing work extends beyond anime into other genres as well; he can be heard as Darius in the series Theodosia, as Valencia in Die Spur des Mörders, and as Sebastian in Douglas is Cancelled. His upcoming projects in anime include roles in You and I Are Polar Opposites, Dark Moon: The Blood Altar, and a new German-language dub of Yuri on Ice, where he voices the character Phichit Chulanont. He has also narrated an audiobook version of the novel Schlaflos by Camilla Grebe. While he had taken on smaller simuldub parts before, Feustel has indicated that his work on Gachiakuta represents his first experience with a voice role of this magnitude and depth. Key directors he has worked with on anime productions include Martin Sabel and Detlef Klein.
