Yukari Shimotsuki
Description
Yukari Shimotsuki is a Japanese actor and voice actor from Hokkaido, born on November 8. A graduate of the Sapporo campus of Yoyogi Animation Academy, he began his career in 2008 and is affiliated with the agency Across Entertainment. Early in his career, he performed under the name YATCH before adopting his current stage name in December 2010. Beyond voice work, Shimotsuki is an active stage performer and a member of the theater group SevenStars.
Shimotsuki has built a diverse portfolio of anime voice roles, often playing supporting characters. He is known for voicing Andrei Francoise in the series Freezing and its sequel Freezing Vibration. His other notable anime credits include Phil, a Survey Corps soldier in Attack on Titan, Teacher Kaminuma in Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, and Masato Aisaki in Hugtto! Precure. He has also appeared in Uta no Prince-sama, My Hero Academia, and The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These. In the 2025 anime adaptation of Übel Blatt, he voices the character Eltzen.
One of his most significant achievements occurred outside of traditional voice acting when he won the World Cosplay Summit in 2012. Representing Japan as part of the team Shikon, he won the world champion title with a performance as Toshizo Hijikata from Hakuoki, outperforming representatives from 22 countries. This victory brought him international recognition and led to invitations to events around the world as a judge and guest. He is also trained in tate, or theatrical stage combat, which he has employed in both his cosplay performances and stage acting.
