Yu Lei

Description
Yu Lei is the original creator of the Chinese web comic Kuài bǎ wǒ gē dài zǒu, which translates to Please Take My Brother Away. This web comic serves as the foundational source material for the anime series Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai!. The work is a comedy that centers on the daily lives and often turbulent relationship between an older brother, Shi Fen, and his younger sister, Shi Miao.

The original web comic by Yu Lei began publication online and achieved significant popularity, being read over 500 million times in China. The story focuses on the sibling dynamic, featuring a sister who often reacts violently to her well-meaning but foolish older brother, along with themes of school life, friendship, and food. The web comic was later compiled into printed volumes.

The first anime adaptation, titled Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai!, premiered in Japan in April 2017. This was a short-form anime produced by the studios Imagineer and Fanworks, with direction and scripts handled by the creator Rarecho. The success of this initial adaptation led to multiple subsequent seasons. A second season aired in 2018, a third season followed in 2019, and a fourth season, specifically referenced by the user, was broadcast in Japan starting in October 2020. A fifth season was later produced as well. All seasons of the anime retained the core premise and characters created by Yu Lei.

The artistic identity of Yu Lei's original work is defined by its comedic portrayal of family life, a theme that remained central across all anime adaptations. The series is known for its depiction of sibling love-hate relationships, slapstick humor, and the resolution of everyday conflicts. This consistent focus allowed the short-form anime to build a dedicated following over several seasons. The work's significance in the industry lies in its successful cross-cultural adaptation from a popular Chinese web comic into a long-running anime series in Japan, produced by a collaborative team and released across multiple platforms in both countries.
