Hiroshi Yagyū was a Japanese actor and voice actor born on January 7, 1937, in Ibaraki Prefecture. After a period of study at a maritime university, he changed his career path and entered the training school of the Haiyuza theater company, marking the beginning of his long entertainment career. He passed away on April 16, 2022.

While Yagyū was widely recognized for his extensive work in television dramas and as a program host, his voice acting career included notable contributions to dubbing foreign films and animation. A specific example of his anime voice work is the role of Professor in the 1987 animated film Twilight of the Cockroaches. Beyond anime, he was the regular narrator for the long-running NHK documentary series Living Planet. In the field of film dubbing, he was known for providing the Japanese voice for actors such as James Stewart and Henry Fonda. He also lent his voice to educational and documentary programs, such as an NHK video series on the consequences of nuclear war.

Yagyū gained national prominence for his role as the host of the long-running quiz show 100-man Yen Quiz Hunter and for his performances in television dramas. Later in life, he became equally well-known as a landscaper and for his role as the president of the Wild Bird Society of Japan, reflecting a deep commitment to nature that also influenced his later professional activities.
